WHAT IS A THERMAL HEAT-LOSS SURVEY?

New build heat loss surveys consist of using a borescope camera to check for any anomalies embedded within cavity wall insulation. This will return highly detailed thermal imaging which can be used as concrete evidence if disputing a fault with a developer.

Thermal faults can include:

  • Draughts
Poorly installed windows can significantly increase your heating costs

  • Substandard heating
Air pockets and missing elements can result in weak heating systems

  • Insulation voids
Inadequate cavity wall and loft insulations equal a freezing home

Our specialist surveyors are more than happy to walk you through any questions and provide expert guidance in what you need to outline to your developer or builder.

WHAT IS A BORESCOPE CAVITY WALL INSULATION SURVEY?

A borescope survey is an optical tool designed to check the effectivity of your cavity wall insulation, which is not visible to the naked eye or easily accessible.

Borescope cavity wall checks yield on-the-spot results and play a central role in evaluating how well insulated your property is.

New build homes can come in a variety of different types of cavity installations, ranging from blown polystyrene beads to system built kingspan panels. Regardless of type, new build homes that are left unchecked are vulnerable to both voids and thermal bridging; often resulting in draughts and sky-high heating bills.

*GetSnagged carries out borescope checks on traditionally built block and brick new-build houses, but not on timber frames, as this has the capacity to penetrate cavity membranes.

Will borescope cavity wall insulation checks damage or mark my walls?

No! GetSnagged surveyors are richly experienced in conducting borescope checks with negligible evidence of any intrusion. We will drill into the mortar of the brickwork, (gathering any mortar dust along the way to keep everything nice and clean), before sending in the borescope camera to start inspections of minor and major voids.

Weatherproof sealant is added once the borescope checks are completed to fill the small hole created, to ensure your new home remains spotless.

How much does a borescope cavity wall insulation check cost?

For just £25 extra, your GetSnagged specialist will spot check cavity walls in the corners, and even your garage roof, if there is a bedroom above at risk of poor insulation. We are proud to offer the lowest rates in the market for this essential service.

Can I combine borescope cavity checks with a thermal heat loss survey?

Yes! As thermal snags take place between November - February, feel welcome to add on your borescope inspection. Borescope cavity checks can also be added on as an extra to standard and revisit snags.

WHAT IS A revisit SURVEY?

After 12 months in your new home, a revisit survey carries dual purposes and significant benefits.

The first objective of our snagging specialists is to double-check that the issues initially snagged have been sufficiently rectified. The second aspect of a revisit survey is to comprehensively snag the property for any new issues that may have arisen over the past year.

Arranging a revisit survey 12 months after you first moved in, allows you to address any serious problems before the builder’s warranty expires.

As the average homeowner is not experienced in auditing structural defects or examining cavity insulation voids, builders often cut corners and do not adequately remedy the issues raised.

This is why bringing a seasoned GetSnagged professional into your home takes away any uncertainty and ensures builders execute any outstanding jobs to our sky-high standards.

WHAT IS A room measurement SURVEY?

One of the most exciting parts of moving into your new home is decorating and buying furniture!

GetSnagged offers a comprehensive room measurement service, covering everything from windows to walls. This is perfect for you if you’re due to complete or have recently moved in and want to start ordering your furniture, beds, blinds and wallpaper pronto.

Our digitally delivered, annotated colour photographic report clearly lay out the exact measurements of each room. No need to fiddle around with the tape measure, leave the tedious stuff to us!

Moreover, we can also provide you with detailed floor plans and elevations in both PDF and DWG format which can be used for any future planned developments, such as extensions or loft conversions.
